Tam's Week Sixteen

I am unable to escape quirky oddities that never seem to plague other people.

The Good Stuff:
  • I cooked fish. Cod, bought from the fish monger at our biggest grocery store. Used a Rachel Ray recipe and it was... edible. Wish I could say it was better.
  • Have - I think - finished revisions on the first 4 chapters of SPORE, and have written Chapter 5. It's passed 50 pages, so I am hoping to get these polished chapters to pre readers this coming week.
  • Exercised with Richard once
  • Had some 'time off' because my daughter had time off from work. I mostly slept and folded laundry.
  • Family is all doing good.
Not So Good:
  • Still have not sewn. It's becoming distressing. Maybe I can make time tomorrow.
  • Our cat, Echo, is pregnant. She was spayed in September. I know the vet spayed her, okay? I'm sure of it because 1) He's been our vet since we moved up here 2) his assistant was there and witnessed the event and 3) there were a couple of complications, mainly a problem with her incision and his inability to remove all of an ovary. Anyway, she got spayed, yet is pregnant. Since we were concerned that the partial ovary released eggs and some tom got sperm into her, she might have had an ectopic pregnancy. So, she had an ultrasound and xrays. There will be 4 or 5 kittens coming soon, and she has everything where it's supposed to be, just like it's supposed to be. So the opinion is that she had a second uterus. Happens sometimes in dogs, pretty rare in cats.
  • If Echo has five kittens, that'll put our number of cats at ten, which Bill insists will officially make me a 'crazy cat lady'. Yay!
  • Weight is up. Still. Sigh. I'll blame the fish. ;)
for Next Week:
  • Get though it without any rushes to Des Moines.
  • No crises.
  • No surreal happenings
  • Adequate sleep.
Have a good week, everyone.  {{huggs}}

Fry that fish! I say fry it until you get used to the taste of fish. Fat and batter always helps. :)

Weird about your cat. Creepy even. Do her eyes glow red?

Congrats on the Spore work! I'm getting excited about reading the final product.

We're trying to eat healthier, so frying isn't an option right now. I LIKE fried fish - everything tastes better dipped in batter and fried, after all. ;)

Nope, her eyes are plain ol' yellowish cat eyes. She's such a sweetheart and I hope her delivery goes well.

Thanks for the congrats. When it's done-done I'll send you a .doc!

{Hugs} on the fish and sweet little Echo. When are the kittens expected? BTW, you're not officially a crazy cat lady until you have at least 3 nicknames for each cat.

For heaven's sake, go sew something!!!

The kittens were expected 'sometime within the next week' - two different vets told me this on Wed and Thurs. Kittens were born today, much to their mother's utter SURPRISE! She was in a panic of confusion and pain, poor thing, but there are four, three white ones and one calico on white. All are just fine. :)

Was gonna sew today, but did housework and got caught up in kittening. {{huggs}}

As for nicknames...

Puufy is also Puu Man, Puufless, Puufums, and My Puu Puu Baby.
Cooper is also Coop, Monster Kitty, SweetiePie, and 'Damn You, Get Offa There!'
Abbie is Mama Kitty, Bill's Girlfriend, and Worm Butt
Peanut is also Nutty, Nutter Butter, and Nutt Butt
Echo, strangely enough, is just Echo. Until today, so now she's Mama, too. ;)

So, you are one nickname away from being a certified (certifiable?) crazy cat lady. When that time comes, I guess you just embrace the moment.

Aw, poor Echo! I'm glad everything went all right. She's settling in all right? What does Auntie Nutt think? ;)

Tammy Jones said...

Echo has settled in great. Auntie the Nutt is pretty much oblivious and is far too busy frolicking with butterflies and flipping around as she tries to catch them to pay any attention at all to her nieces and nephew. ;)
