- Cleaned house. Sigh. I don't think of myself as a messy person, but somehow messes happen.
- Regular daily chores. I want a maid! To clean house. Get your minds out of the gutter. :)
- Walked four days. Knee swelled, and I had to skip one day. Arthritis is a ... female dog.
- Continued on the low carb diet. Blood sugar is doing well. Not as low as I'd like, but I think it will get there. Bought a no-sugar cookbook. Collected low carb recipes.
- Went out to eat four times with various friends. Ate low carb each time. Rather proud of that.
- Waited for the arrival of the anthology proof copies, which arrived Wednesday and Thursday. They look good. A few formatting errors, but easily fixed.
- Went to the writers group meeting Saturday morning. Gave out proof copies. Discussed contracts and what comes next.
- Went to Wal-Mart in the afternoon and was actually able to buy jeans there in my size. A side effect of my diet is that I've lost 4 inches around my waist and 36 pounds. Quite amazing. Wish I had done this six months ago. Who knows how well I'd be doing by now?
- Went out to eat Saturday night with three friends, including one from my writers group. Two of them ate low carb, too. One did not. I wore a pair of my new "slimmer" jeans.
- Church today. Watched a couple of old movies while cleaning my desk and getting my book notes organized.
- Wrote up the contract for the anthology for all the authors to sign at the next meeting.
- Posted on Createslate, which is what I'm doing right now.
This week:
- Walk at least four days.
- Continue on the low carb diet.
- Daily chores.
- Renew tag on car.
- Pay bills.
- Write each day -- at least one word, dang it -- on Murder by the Mile.
- Proofread my anthology entries one last time.
And if I do all that, I'll be really pleased.

Woo Hoo! New jeans off the rack at Walmart. That is wonderful.
Please share some low carb recipes you like as well as some things that work for you (links are fine--I can add them to Evernote). Maybe I can work some in.
Bummer on the knee swelling. Boo. Hiss.
Jean, I was very excited about the jeans. Because of my size, I've had to buy (expensive) clothes from Big and Tall shops. These are the first jeans I've bought at Wal-Mart around 10 years! They're still big -- I'm still big -- but finally I find clothes in my size again.
Here's one low carb recipe. I have this for breakfast often.
1/3 cup of Eggbeaters (or two eggs beaten)
2 strips of already cooked bacon, crumbled
2 teaspoons of chives or chopped green onions
3 tablespoons of shredded cheese (usually cheddar but pepper jack is good, too)
1/3 teaspoon of turmeric.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Spray small omelet pan with butter substitute spray (or melt 1 teaspoon of butter). Heat pan on medium. Pour in Eggbeaters. Add onions, turmeric, bacon, cheese, salt and pepper. Let cook until firm. Fold over. Cook until done. Serve with one small sliced tomato on the side.
The only carbs are the onions and the tomato, which works out to less than 10 carbs total.
That sound like a good one. Turmeric, eh? I've never tried that. Love tomato on the side. When we eat at Waffle House, I almost always get the sliced tomato instead of hash browns.
When we eat out, I get the egg substitute and see if I can get the fresh fruit or a tomato instead of the hash browns. I've never regretted doing that.
When I'm at home, EggBeaters and veggies are a great way to go. I like to vary my cheeses.
Holy cow, and you're limited to 60 carbs a day? I don't know how you're doing it. I don't think I could.
Wendy, there are a lot of carb free foods out there: cheese, steak, hamburger, bacon, pork chops, pickles, eggs, pork rinds, etc. And of course, there are a lot of low carb veggies and a few low carb fruits. Admittedly, I miss milk and bread and sweets and Dr Pepper. I REALLY miss Dr Pepper, but I'm not hungry. In fact, in lot of ways, I eat more at meals than I used to. I may leave the table with a craving, but not hungry. It's been hard, but it's getting easier. And the results, wow.
Well, yeah, the weight loss is really great. I don't mean to minimize that. Still, dairy, wheat, and sugar are building blocks in my diet. I've considered going dairy and gluten free to see if it helps my allergies, but I'm not that desperate yet.
All that to say, I'm proud of your accomplishment, and finally being about to buy cheap jeans is a great reward!
